I really love this time of year! Pumpkin pie, cranberry sauce, and camaraderie. It’s the time when friends and families get together to give thanks for all the wonderfulness they’ve been given throughout the year. I grew up North of Boston, and, one thing was for sure, Wednesday was Prince Spaghetti Day! My mom had her own special secret tomato sauce which simmered all day in a huge pot, and she’d make extra to give to friends who always asked for more. I grew up with Prince Spaghetti and we keep up the Wednesday tradition as my family still loves the authentic Italian flavor.

Prince Pasta was born in 1912 on Prince Street in Boston’s North End. I’ve always loved exploring this neighborhood filled with scintillating smells and an Old World charm. You’ll find bustling streets, farmer’s markets, festivals and feasts. The smell of fresh bread baking tickles your nose as you make your way down the winding streets, and the cannoli is out of this world.

In celebration of National Pasta Month this October, Boston-born Prince Pasta, has partnered with Christine and Carla Pallotta, chefs and owners of local Italian eatery, NEBO, to develop creative and easy-to-make recipes using Prince Pasta. (I highly recommend NEBO for Prosciutto di Parma, Pappardelle and a delicious Fettuccine al Nero that melts in your mouth. Delicioso!)

Each Wednesday throughout October, Prince Pasta will reveal one of the Pallotta sisters recipes, showing how to make a simple and delicious meal with Prince Pasta. The recipes include Christine’s Breakfast Pasta, Cavatappi Funghi, Pasta al Forno and Pasta Piselli. These dishes look mouthwatering and I never knew the recipes could be so easy to follow.

This recipe with its delicious Mediterranean flavors is one of Chef Christine Pallota’s favorites. Since I’m a big believer in pasta at any time of day, I’ll be making this dish this weekend!

We have all been informed about the dangers of drunk driving; however, studies have shown that distracted driving can be just as dangerous. While most of us would never get behind the wheel after drinking, all too many teens and adults still text while operating a vehicle.

Sadly, motor vehicle accidents are responsible for over 30,000 deaths every single year.The National Highway Safety Administration released a study that revealed that in 2012, an estimated 421,000 people were injured in car crashes involving a distracted driver. Perhaps we need more focus put on distracted driving as well.

Sometimes it seems tempting to pick up one’s phone and read a message or even send one back; however, it seriously is not worth the consequences. If need be, pull over to a safe place if you must text or read messages. All it takes is that one moment of looking away and, in an instant, someone’s life could be changed forever.

Don’t text and drive. Just don’t do it.

It may often seem that our cats are living in their own world and couldn’t be at all bothered by ours. They like to go their own way. However, if truth be told, they do still need a few things from us so that we can pamper and adore them in the manner to which they are accustomed.
