1 Sol Swimwear – Swim Couture – Win your choice!

June 23, 2012 By Debra Pearlstein 228 Comments

Welcome to the Summer Sizzle Giveaway Hop hosted by Mom With a Dot Com! Over 65 bloggers have joined together to give you all a chance to win some amazing prizes and keep you entertained throughout the summer!

Summer Sizzle begins June 24 and ends June 30. So hop around and I hope you find some wonderful prizes that you love. Each giveaway will have a prize valued at $25 or more! Best of luck to all!

My giveaway here at Strange Daze Indeed is for a glam and sophisticated 1 Sol Swimwear suit of your choosing! I love these swimsuits and hope you will too.

We’ve had temperatures in the 90’s this week in the Northeast and so I’ve been re-evaluating my swimsuit wardrobe. Invited to a “pool party” today, I was happy that I had received a bathing suit from 1 Sol Swimwear.

It’s sophisticated. It’s chic. It’s glam. It makes me think of Old Hollywood with a modern flair. In short, I love it. It’s a gorgeous rich ripe plum color and very flattering. I’m talking about the 1 Sol Swimwear Cleo Tankini with a classic brief which I was sent to review.

First of all, it arrived in this beautiful box with a silver tie. Very classy. Gorgeous box and inside a gorgeous swimsuit. I noticed right away how soft and silky it was. Extremely well-made. Beautiful craftsmanship.

The swimsuit was nicely fitted but not too tight and has beautiful ruching for depth and texture and tummy control panels. It had a slimming effect that I appreciated. It looks great on and is silky and luxurious, sure to get compliments.  It showed just enough but not too much and it was great when I was active; it definitely stays in place.  I would wear this to a garden party with a sarong. 1 Sol has a nice plum chiffon one for only $18 that would match this suit perfectly. It’s on my list. with one of their super cute beach bags.

After wear, just hand wash and lay it flat to dry. The material is 91% nylon and 9% spandex and the Cleo Tankini comes in  black, white, metallic army, charcoal, copper, fushia, emerald and electric blue as well as the plum for $215.

They also have Brazilian Bikinis, Moderate Coverage Bikinis, Tankinis, Monokinis and One Pieces  – embellished, prints and silky solids.  They also sell really cute cover-ups, bags and sarongs.

You can also build your own bikini with their bikini maker. This is pretty cool as it lets you see on a model how different colors, styles and prints look together.

You can purchase any of the above-mentioned items and more at 1Sol Swimwear.

1Sol has generously offered one of my readers their choice of any swimsuit (excluding cover-ups). Would you like to glam up your summer beachwear? Then, please enter at the Rafflecopter below. Best of luck!

Skillet Pumpkin Sauce – Thai Coconut flavor (review)

June 21, 2012 By Debra Pearlstein 22 Comments

Skillet Pumpkin Sauce is the newest addition to the Skillet line. Their pumpkin ketchups have a unique flavor and a good nutritional profile that comes from vitamins and minerals naturally found in pumpkin.

The Skillet Pumpkin Sauce comes in three flavors: Thai Coconut, Chipotle, and Apple Vinegar Brown Sugar

I sampled the Thai Coconut which had a nice, rich, though not overwhelming, coconut flavor along with Asian spices, pumpkin and curry.

I thought that I’d try it out with a stir-fry since this is one of my go to dishes, espcially when I don’t have a large amount of time. I cooked up some jasmine rice, then stir-fried it with zucchini, onions, carrots, mushrooms and celery. I feel that it had a nice Thai-food like flavor and I would use it again as a variation on the basic stir-fry. I also used it as a dipping sauce for Spring Rolls and enjoyed the combination.

You can check out all their products at Skillet or email them with any inquiries at eat@skilletstreetfood.com.

And, if you’re in Seattle, you can check out their diner which has delicious items like maple braised pork belly and waffles with a fried egg on top, as well as burgers with bacon jam, arugula, bleu/brie on brioche with hand cut fries.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Inspiration Tuesday

June 19, 2012 By Debra Pearlstein 18 Comments

“The advice I like to give young artists, or really anybody who’ll listen to me, is not to wait around for inspiration. Inspiration is for amateurs; the rest of us just show up and get to work. If you wait around for the clouds to part and a bolt of lightning to strike you in the brain, you are not going to make an awful lot of work.

All the best ideas come out of the process; they come out of the work itself. Things occur to you. If you’re sitting around trying to dream up a great art idea, you can sit there a long time before anything happens.

But if you just get to work, something will occur to you and something else will occur to you and something else that you reject will push you in another direction. Inspiration is absolutely unnecessary and somehow deceptive.

You feel like you need this great idea before you can get down to work, and I find that’s almost never the case.”
