It was a warm Spring May day when I watched my nephew and his classmates graduate at the Boston College Campus. Chicago Archbishop Blase Joseph Cupich delivered an inspiring address at Alumni Stadium. “The world”, he said, “needs the hope of those who know and are inspired by the givenness of life, the grace of life.”
This is truly something we should never lose sight of. As I stood with my family, my heart was filled with pride. I remembered my own graduation with its promises of hope. As I watched my nephew and his classmates receive their diplomas, I flashed back to the day he was born, the explosion of love in my heart which only gets stronger. It’s hard to believe time can pass so very quickly.
After the ceremony, my sister had a celebration at her home. I presented my nephew with the gorgeous Church Hill Classics Presidential Masterpiece Diploma Frame I had picked out for him. This frame is truly stunning and elegant with a handsome flat panel in a gorgeous dark walnut finish.
His face lit up and he told me he had the perfect place to hang it in his new apartment which he couldn’t wait to show me. His Mom and Dad were so impressed and grateful, so glad that he would have a way to showcase and honor his achievements. He was just beaming with pride the entire day it seemed.
Sometimes one of the best gifts isn’t the one you think of first or the one that provides immediate gratification, but one that will be an integral, lasting part of your future.
