Certain elements can provide just the right accent and really make a room.
For example, when my Mom came home from physical rehabilitation after a bad fall, we bought new sheets, blankets and a comforter for her room. It was amazing how much that purple lilac comforter brightened up the whole room and her spirit when she saw it.
I also try to follow feng shui principles such as using soothing colors and lighting in the bedroom for calm and relaxation. An attractive and well-balanced bed is very important in creating a perfect feng shui bedroom as well as not having the bed in a direct line with the door.
Lately I’ve been researching Bedroom decorating ideas since usually that is my favorite room and sanctuary. I especially want a new quilt, sham and pillows as I feel that is the centerpiece.
Here is something I’m considering:

Wandering Vine Chenille Bedding from the Lakeside Collection |
My style has always been a bit eclectic, however I do like to keep a flow going throughout the different rooms. I try to keep all hallways clear and leave space so that rooms don’t look cramped.
One thing I’ve been working on lately is clearing up the clutter. It’s amazing what a difference that makes. Sometimes, I’d wonder looking at particularly neat homes, don’t they have “stuff”?
But, I’ve found it’s really a matter of putting things away and creating storage space which really opens up your rooms. You can even incorporate your design theme into accessories used for organization like displaying books in neat stacks on bookcases, end tables or wall shelves.
Using colorful themed kitchen accessories for organizing kitchen gadgets can add character to your countertops.
I have way too much paperwork, so I’m looking at this file cabinet which does not look at all like my usual idea of one and fits right in with my furniture.

A beautiful piece of artwork, a colorful throw rug, and warm lighting can be just the accents you need to really make your house feel like a true home.

Personalized Street Scene Wall Art – Lakeside Collection |
Great choices! It’s hard to decorate on a budget but a little creativity and pops of color can do wonders.
Beautiful pieces!
Very nice!
I REALLY like that bedding! Love the colors!
I like the look of the bedding. It is pretty. I recently updated our bedding but haven’t thought about wall colors or decor just yet.

Oh I never thought of checking there for bedding – I have to guest beds that I have not yet bought sheets or comforters for, I’m going to look and see what they have.
I love decorating on a budget – it’s the best way! ๐
It’s funny how you mention how much of a difference removing clutter can make because its true. One of the best things is getting that extra space back. We JUST cleared the hall closet and it is a good feeling.
I love the bedding you are considering! I am always amazed at how bedding can cheer up (or dull) a room!

I get lost in the Lakeside Collection catalog! That filing cabinet is so cute and could be in my family room….hmmmmmmm
I love that photo, romantic without being too lovie dokie and still could be a conversation starter.
I totally agree! having stuff always adds character compared to a clean empty place!
I love that filing cabinet! Right now we have an old one in the basement, but I’d love something that would look nice upstairs.
I badly need to remove clutter right now, and you are right it probably would make a big difference without spending much.
Storage places are all well and good, but I try to use the ‘one in, one out’ philosophy. ARC comes by my house about once a month and I donate stuff to them. Love the bedspread.
