There are lots of things you will need over the years, but only now and then. Maybe some power tools for working on your home, or a prom dress or tuxedo. Perhaps you want to throw a once-in-a lifetime party and you need some special audio equipment or lights. You could buy all these things, and fill up your house with items that serve only to take up space. In theory, you might need them again some day, and then you could dust them off and see if they still work, or, in the case of clothes, see if they’re still in fashion.
But, increasingly, as money and space get tighter, people are turning to renting all kinds of things to keep their storage spaces free and their lives simple. I find this idea very appealing! If you rent a car, for example, you can be sure that it will always be in decent condition, that you don’t have to worry about maintaining it and carrying the costs involved in car ownership. If you rent clothes or accessories, they will never go out of fashion, unlike the clothes sitting in your closet which look quite different to you than when you bought them ten years ago.
You can hire here: erento.co.uk to find a website carrying all kinds of different things for you to rent. From holiday homes to necklaces, you can have temporary ownership of almost anything you want. You can have it for less, and, because you’re sharing, it’s even good for the environment. The more things are used and maintained, the less they have to be manufactured, which means you are helping the planet too. So before you go to the hardware store to buy that machine, before you spend $1000 on a dress you’ll only wear once, consider renting these things, it might be a better option.
There’s nothing wrong with renting ๐
I can certainly see how renting could be attractive. Buying is highly overrated (says the woman who just put out $1600 for new appliances ๐
I will have to check out their website.
We did the renting thing for awhile and the ONLY reason we purchased our home was because we had a horrid experience with an owner.
We currently own, but have rented.
This is such a cool concept!
Renting might be the best option but I have a hard time spending money on something I’m giviging back too.
I’m currently renting. Hoping to buy someday, though!
Still renting here too ๐ Can’t wait to own!
I rememeber when it used to be popular 20 years ago. But it does make sense if you’re throwing a party or something like that.
I rented for far too long to want to rent anything again, it’s just throwing money away for us, but I can see why it’s best for some people ๐
I bought a home that dropped in value A LOT since I bought it…I wish I were renting!
Wow, that’s pretty cool how you can rent tools and clothing
I own now, but have done my share of renting.
I haven’t rented in years.
I rented for many many years. Its a great option for some!
I’ve never thought of renting clothes.
Definitely like the idea of renting some things instead of buying them.
They definitely both have their pros and cons. =)
both have their pros and cons for sure. I’m not sure where I’m happier
I’ve noticed that people can even rent clothing. I suppose that saves a ton of money when you don’t have to pay several hundred for a gown!
Interesting concept. I’m more of a buyer though, than a renter.
I have rented in the past, some good and some bad..
I own a condo and I rent a house. Guess you could say I do a little of both.
We own our old town house and rent this farm. We really want our own land though.
I’m more of a buyer, but for some things, renting is definitely the way to go.
I would never have thought to rent some of those things. Cool!
We are currently doing both!! We own our house in Portland but are renting it out since we live in Bellingham (6 hrs from PDX) and we are currently renting….but we might end up buying this place!
Sofia
We’ve rented heavy equipment before, and scaffolding.
renting almost anything at all that you need I love that idea I can think of a few things that I would need
so cool!
