“Whatever the present moment contains, accept it as if you had chosen it.”
― Eckhart Tolle
A few years back, I read “The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle and it really changed my life. I had always tried to live in the moment as much as possible, but this book really brought it home in a way others could not.
It’s so hard sometimes to accept what is going on, however, if we can, and not rush to the past or the future, we may find our lives to be easier and more peaceful.
I don’t know too many people that worrying has ever helped. Living in the past is futile and the future is guaranteed to no one. There is only this moment. Then this one. Then this.
I know that I am at my happiest when I am not in my mind, but simply living in the moment, and the moment with whatever it brings. It may not be easy, but it certainly creates a much greater sense of calm and well-being.
Ram Dass, who was one of my first spiritual teachers, spoke about the concept “Be Here Now”.
How much of your life do you live in the present moment?
That is beautiful, I live a lot in the present moment but do also think about how much time I feel I have to make any changes in my life.
I’m terrible at doing this and I’m always thinking of what to do in the future. I’ve tried to take a couple minutes everyday to simply be present and I’m failing at it.
Great quote! I need to check this book out!
I need to remember this!
I love this mentality. Definitely going to have to check that book out, sounds like I could learn a lot.
Back in the 60’s I was a follower of Baba Ram Das, then I went on to live in an ashram of Guru Maharaji. I now live life to the fullest EVERY SINGLE day.
That’s so cool, Zippy. I can definitely relate!
Love the quote and a very nice photo to go with it.
Beautiful!
It is important to live life to the fullest!
Great quote!
I try to live every moment in the present
Beautiful!
Great quote, and great advice.
I tell my husband all the time that if worrying will fix it, worry. If not, don’t waste your time.
I tell my sister that too 😉
I have lived in the past before and I was so miserable it’s so much better to live in the present and look to the future.
I love this quote! Thanks for sharing!
So true to learn to accept the now.
Learning to accept the now is so hard, but so worth it.
This is one of those concepts I know in the abstract but find difficulty putting into action in the specific. Thanks for the reminder!
Thank you for this reminder! I’m so bad to think about the past and the future, instead of living in the here and now. :/
I tend to live in the moment when I’m with my kids. I let everything else go and just enjoy them.
Wow, that is interesting…never thought of that, but what if it’s something bad happening?
That’s definitely when it’s the most challenging, but, if somehow you can do it, I imagine that’s where peace is.
I really love this and I feel that there’s something wonderful and good in every single moment, although some are more obvious than others.
how great to read I love things that are inspiring
This is really a great quote. I’ve never read the book but it’s always been my motto – CARPE DIEM!
I’m definitely a worrier and I need to work on it.
This week I wish I were living in the future some of my present moments have been emotional LOL
As you stated living in the now is not easy but just like most things I’m sure practicing will make perfect. I really need to experience the now more often…
Love that photo.
Great quote and great reminder.
Great quote! And, I love the picture!
Such a great quote and picture. I tend to try to live too far in the future rather than relishing what is now.
Great quote!
I love that picture.
