The Amazing Race

January 29, 2008 By Debra Pearlstein Leave a Comment

I really was hoping this year would break the mold and that an unusual team would win like Christina and her dad Ron or Nick and his grandpa Don, but, congrats to TK and Rachel. This was an amazing season. I’ll be back with a full review soon.

I just wanted to take a moment to acknowledge Heath Ledger for his kind nature and brilliant acting. Heath, we will miss you.
If you get a chance, check out some of his work on imdb.

New Fall Tv Season

October 8, 2007 By Debra Pearlstein Leave a Comment

So, it’s the new Fall tv season and I’m wondering why do they have all the new Fall shows and returning favorites at once. Even with TIVO, it’s hard to keep up. How come there’s nothing on in the summer :).

Here are a few of my favorites:

Survivor (always!)
Project Runway (coming soon!)
Journeyman
Prison Break

A lot of the new ones just didn’t cut it for me. I’ll be back with details.

TWOp

Ok, so if you haven’t found one of my favorite sites around, here it is:

www.televisionwithoutpity.com

If you watch tv at all and are intelligent and snarky, or just like to read clever and insightful comments, go there. You will find almost every show imaginable there from soap operas to dramas to reality tv. People there keep me laughing on a daily basis and laughing is good for the soul. Highly recommended: 5 stars.

Sanjaya leaves – Vote Blake!

April 19, 2007 By Debra Pearlstein Leave a Comment

Well, it seems Simon and a lot of America got what they wanted as Sanjaya was sent packing last night. As I watched him wipe the tears away, he seemed like such a kid. How weird would it be to be that age and the focus of so much media controversy?
I’m sure that he will be courted by various media sources. I just hope he doesn’t take all the negative criticism too seriously. People get very passionate and weird about reality tv shows. Come on guys, it’s just teevee.
Oh well, Sanjaya still has the tour and will be fine, so now on to more important AI news, like why was beautiful Blake in the bottom three?
Come oh, dear readers, save Blake! Love him!

Survivor and Amazing Race Picks

April 8, 2007 By Debra Pearlstein Leave a Comment

So, Survivor over the past few weeks has really become kinda great again. My picks for the win are Earl or YauMan. Earl leading the Meke dance was so hot.
And for the Amazing Race All-Stars, Danny and Oswald because they are incredibly fabulous. Though if the Beauty Queens win, it’ll be ok. They are doing really well this time around and manage to always stay so perky!

So what’s all the hoopla about Sanjaya Malakar?

April 8, 2007 By Debra Pearlstein Leave a Comment

Every year on American Idol, it seems some fans get outraged by someone staying on when “they” believe it’s undeserved. They pick someone and bash them all over the net. Most of y’all have heard about the hunger strikes and the petitions vs the Sanjaya supporters.
I say, just leave the kid alone. He’s only 17 and it’s not his fault. The producers and judges determine who makes the top 24.
At that point, America does vote, for good or for bad. That is the premise of this show or they would change it into a serious singing competition. But, it’s not. It’s entertainment with some good singing thrown in occasionally.
My view? Sanjaya is entertaining, and besides, if your “favorite” was voted off, don’t blame him. If not this week, it would be the next anyway.
So, Sanjaya, rock on!

Isn’t Life Strange

Welcome to the jungle

March 17, 2007 By Debra Pearlstein 1 Comment

Maybe I think too much. I wonder about so many different things, like why they discontinued Haagen Dazs pear sorbet when it was the best flavor, or why American Idol sucks so bad this year, or why there is so much cheezy music on the radio. Or how you can want people in your life but love being alone at the same time, and how it’s a delicate balance. Please feel free to write your own wonderings here. Strange daze indeed.
