Game Changer by Charissa Stastny

Meridee Mansford is completely comfortable pretending to be invisible and wants nothing to do with the popular crowd. But that doesn’t stop her from dreaming about the hunky football player who visits the campus ice cream shop where she works. Still, she’s smart enough to know he’d never notice a girl like her, and she’d never want him even if he did. Too much unwelcome attention.

Parker Harrington basks in the glory that’s been his since the game-changing passes he caught that pushed his team into the national spotlight. Sticky Fingers is his media moniker now, and the cheerleaders who used to ignore him when he sat the bench have become his most devoted fans. But when he accidentally crashes into a quiet coed and covers her in orange chicken, it throws off his offensive game.

As fate, ice cream, and orange chicken throw the opposites together, will Parker continue keeping company with women he knows are only using him for his fame, or will he change up the game and risk his heart on a genuine girl who despises the attention he craves?

Praise for the Book

“A fun and flirty new adult romance. It’s a sweet indulgence that keeps you turning pages. The start to what is sure to be a great new series. – Jennifer Peel, author of Pianos and Promises series

“Opposites attract when the overlooked sweet girl lands herself the popular football star in this quasi-Cinderella story. It’s the perfect read to keep you up way past your bedtime…”Taylor Dean, author of Chasing Fireflies

Excerpt

Parker waggled his brows at me. “I’m waiting.” When I glared, he leaned over to whisper. “Call your man, or I’ll know you’re lying and be by to pick you up tomorrow night for our date. Tara told me where you live.” His blue eyes crinkled at the corners.

Tara had what? I folded my arms. No way would I let him ruin my first date in over three years. “Fine. I’ll call him.”

He raised an infuriating brow. “Thanks, Mare. I can’t wait to meet your soul-mate.”

“It’s Meridee.” I stomped into the break room and sent Danny out to handle the teenage rush with Bryce. Soul-mate. What a moron.

Pulling out my phone, I hit speed dial. On the third ring, my big brother answered.

“What’s up, Mare?”

“Thanks for answering.” I released the breath I’d been holding. “I need a huge favor.”

“Name it, sis. You know I’m here for you.”

I frowned at the pity I detected in his voice. But pride had no place at the moment, not with Parker Harrington waiting in the shop. “There’s this guy bothering me at work. Stalking me.” If he suspected danger, Mark would rush right over to save me. “Can you come to the shop and pretend to be my fiancé so he’ll leave me alone?”

“Ew. You’re my sister.”

“It’d only be for pretend. Please? I need your help, Mark.”

“You don’t expect me to hold hands or kiss you, do you?”

“Oh, shut up. Just get over here and let me introduce you to him. He doesn’t believe I have a boyfriend.”

“You don’t.”

I gnashed my teeth. “I know. That’s why I need your help.”

18 Reasons To Use SEO For Beginners

18ReasonstouseSeoForBeginners

This is a sponsored post.

As bloggers, we constantly are bombarded with keeping our blog as up to date as possible. How do we do this? By using essential tools to keep our brand/blog in the know, in the market, and available and accessible to anyone who wants to read about it. The problem is, how do we get those people to read what we are writing? So what do you need to know when it comes to SEO and is it worth it?

Here are 18 reasons to use SEO when blogging and what to use!

  1. Check For Duplicate Content– This helps you avoid losing search engine rankings! Duplicate content should be no more than 10% of your site. You should check for duplicate content and remove it to avoid losing search engine availability.

  2. Use International Contextual Links on Long Tail Keywords– This helps improve your page ranking! Scan through older posts that you have and other web pages. These are easy to link them internally and it helps to establish your SEO-friendly site architecture.

  3. Keywords in H Tags– For your best SEO results, it’s important that you place your page’s best keywords in H tags without overstuffing them. This allows your search engines to know what the page is all about.

  4. Use Short and Descriptive URL Links To Rank Higher– Create simple and SEO friendly permalinks, such that the URL is short but descriptive and contains your target keywords.

  5. Use Hyphens– This helps you to differentiate your words in the URL shortcut. The structure of a URL matters; so it’s important to keep them as simple as possible and to use hyphens to optimize your URLs.

  6. Optimize Your Images For Better Rankings– Optimizing your images to their largest size reduces your bounce rate, can improve your performance and generates more traffic from your image search engines like Google Image Search.

  7. Create Search Engine & User Friendly Layouts– By implementing a no-index tag on low quality pages, the search engine robots do not index them. A better idea would be to get rid of low quality thin content to help your page run smoother.

  8. Social Signals– These signals impact your search engine rankings. Make sure that it’s active on social sites because these search engines use the data from the sites to rank your website as a whole.

  9. Publish Static Pages– When you publish your usually static Privacy, Contact Us, About Us pages, you can improve your site’s visibility and search engine rankings because more people will spend time getting to know you, how to contact you and your privacy policy.

  10. Social Branding – If you are wanting a more organic search traffic and to rank well in SERPs, create a social profile for your business on popular social channels such as Twitter, Facebook, Google + and Instagram!

  11. Submit To Google Local Listing– Submit your sites listing on Google’s My Business page. This will help boost your local SEO and to improve your site’s visibility.

  12. Set Up A Search Console Account– Google Search Console gives you insight into which keywords are popular on your blog. Also, what web pages have been indexed, a list of external and internal sites and more!

  13. Set Up An RRS Feed For Your Blog– This makes it much easier for others to promote and share your content and then provide links back to your website, resulting in more traffic and brand awareness.

  14. Look For Broken Links– When you look for broken links on Wikipedia and replace them with yours. Getting a backlink from Wikipedia is great for improving your website’s availability.

  15. Use Guest Blogging For Link Building– When you have guest bloggers, they can help you boost your site’s organic search ranking by improving your site’s visibility on search engines. This is one of my favorite easy ways to keep your stats up!

  16. Create An Infographic – Using an infographic is one of the most popular methods of increasing your site’s traffic with quality content.

  17. Competitor Link Profile – Look at your link metrics of your website and review those important links. This will show you the important data, such as your page’s authority, domain authority, backlinks etc though which you can understand your competitors’ link building strategy.

  18. Use Google Keyword Planner– I didn’t start using this until recently but this tool really helped me a lot! It provides you with all the necessary information you need to conduct a keyword research.

There are many other great reasons to keep using SEO to get your blog name out there. If you feel overwhelmed or unsure about these tips, my next suggestion would be to hire someone to help you! RankCrew is your one stop shop for all SEO needs. They have over 16 years experience, affordable SEO services and packages depending on where your blog or brand is. You can create your account for free and then choose from one of their link building packages to help you obtain your top ranking in Google.

Back-to-school Lunch Tips To Make Your Life Easier

This shop has been compensated by Acorn Influence, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone.

YOPLAITOK

As the weather cools and summer winds down, we move on to the next phase, Back To School!

New clothes, backpacks, notebooks and pens are all ready to go, but, as we know, school lunches are a daily chore.

IMG_5445

Here are some tips to make your lunchmaking easier!

  1. Don’t wait till the last minute. Use a whiteboard or planner and jot down ideas ahead of time for the week.
  2. Make school lunch shopping lists with your kids so you have what you need at hand.
  3. Make lunches the night before so you have one less worry in the morning.
  4. Get your kids involved. Give them healthy choices, for example, tuna sandwich or PB&J, hummus with pretzels or veggies. Let them plan with you.
  5. Don’t pack things you want your kids to eat; pack things you know they like.
  6. I like to add spontaneous surprises – organic gummy bears, a handwritten note, chocolate yogurt covered raisins. Something unexpected.

Here are some of our favorites: Cut up pita triangles with hummus, leftover mac and cheese or pasta salad, chicken quesadillas, turkey wrap with coleslaw, apple slices with almond butter, chips and salsa, watermelon wedges and berries, sliced cucumber and carrot sticks with ranch dressing.

This year, we are really into the new Yogurt Multipacks which I picked up this weekend at Walmart.

They are  superslim so they fit easily in the fridge and have a newly designed easy-open top which allows you to see how many of each flavor are left.

My kids and I both love the Harvest Peach and Strawberry flavors.  I love that you can get two flavors in each multipack. They also come in Strawberry/Orange, Strawberry/Banana, and Strawberry/Mixed Berry. They are perfect for school lunches!

Guess what?  I grab them for my own lunches too when I’m headed out the door! So smooth and delicious!

#Win $75 Paypal Cash or Amazon GC – The Pursuit of Lady Harriett Book Blast #giveaway

The Pursuit of Lady Harriett by Rachael Anderson

Who can answer this question? Who truly knows? When wills clash and hearts collide, who will reign victorious?

Termed an Incomparable during her first London season, Lady Harriett Cavendish is beautiful, spirited, and confident, capturing the attention of a great many suitors. Unfortunately, they all failed to capture her attention, and she concluded the season as unattached as she’d begun it.

Only weeks prior to her second season, Harriett encounters Lieutenant Christopher Jamison while visiting Tanglewood Manor. Recently returned from war, the lieutenant is everything that Harriett’s previous suitors were not. He’s arrogant, ungentlemanly, irritating, and challenges her at every opportunity. When he goes too far, Harriett decides that it’s time to turn the tables on him. But as she sets out to put the lieutenant in his place once and for all, she discovers there is more to him than meets the eye, and when it comes to matters of the heart, she has no control whatsoever.

Excerpt

The corners of the man’s eyes crinkled in a mild show of amusement. “Lady Harriett, I presume?” Rather than look at her with appreciation as most men did, he appeared amused.

At her nod, he tucked his hands behind his back, remaining a few steps above her. “I am Lieutenant Christopher Jamison, an old friend of Jonathan’s.”

“I was expecting you days ago,” she answered. “Lord Jonathan charged me with the unhappy task of informing you he and his new bride are currently away on their wedding trip. He is sorry he cannot be here to meet with you and has asked that I relay his apologies.”

“May I inquire as to how long they will be away?” he asked.

No, you may not, she wanted to say. Her neck was beginning to ache from looking up at him, but she forced her gaze to remain steady. “They expected to be gone a fortnight, sir.”

“And they have been gone how long, exactly?”

She felt an unaccountable hesitancy to tell him. “A week.”

“Ah.” He sounded disappointed but seemed to take the news in stride, glancing at Charlie as though wondering whether he ought to retrieve his horse or not. Harriett prayed that he would.

When his gaze strayed back to her, he took the unwelcome, and ungentlemanly, liberty of perusing her figure. When his eyes met hers again, his lips twitched into a slight smile. “Forgive me, my lady, but you appear to have had a run-in with a mud puddle and lost.”

How kind of him to point that out. Harriett kept her hands at her side rather than attempt to brush the dirt from her face and pelisse yet again. The damage was done, and no amount of brushing or shaking would remove the muck. What she needed was a hot bath and a change of clothes.

“Actually, sir, I was merely an innocent bystander.”

“Indeed?”

She picked up her skirts and ascended the steps, stopping on the stair above him so that she was eye level with him. “Are you always such a reckless rider, sir? Do you not pay heed to your surroundings?”

“Of course I do.”

“If you had, you would have seen me standing at the side of the road and, I would hope, thought to slow your animal down so as to not splash mud all over my pelisse.”

Her chilly set down did not have the desired effect. He did not appear the least bit repentant. Rather, he looked ready to burst into laughter. “And your face, apparently.” He leaned forward and squinted. “If I’m not mistaken, there is a splash or two of mud on your bonnet as well.”

Harriett glared at him. “How observant you are, Lieutenant Jamison. One can only wonder why you didn’t put that skill to good use earlier. If you had, perhaps my pelisse, face, and bonnet would still be clean.”

“I am always observant, my lady,” he said. “But might I suggest that if you would like to be noticed at the side of the road, you should wear a color that does not blend so perfectly with your surroundings. That particular shade of green looks quite lovely on you, but only someone with the eyes of an eagle would have spotted you in front of a landscape of evergreens.”

Harriett opened her mouth to respond, but no words were forthcoming. The man did not even attempt to behave like a gentleman. How could he be so . . . so . . .

“Have you no apology to offer, sir?” she finally spluttered.

“Oh, did I not apologize? Forgive me.”

“For what? Forgetting to apologize or for not doing so in the first place?”

Perfectly You by Robin Daniels

The student body Vice President at Franklin High School is Ivy Nixon. The school holds a date auction to raise funds for the senior class graduation party each year, and this year, Ivy’s in charge. Planning the event is a huge task and Ivy is determined to prove she can get the job done right. Unfortunately, she’s still one participant short and her deadline is looming.

Andy Walker, her cute but socially reclusive art class table mate, is her last resort. He may not be popular, but he’s funny, talented, and full of surprises. With a makeover and some major social marketing, Ivy is sure he could fetch a decent price at the auction.

Andy reluctantly agrees to help, but the more time Ivy spends with him, the more her feelings shift from professional to romantic in nature. To top it off, she’s done her marketing so well, that other girls are starting to notice Andy too. Come auction time, will Ivy be able to let him go to the highest bidder? Or will she find a way to keep him for herself…

Content Description: This is a stand-alone YA contemporary romance with companion novels set at the same high school. It contains minor language, innuendo, and crude humor, some steamy kissing, a party scene where underage drinking is taking place, and a brief but tasteful conversation about sex. The author has attempted to write characters who make good choices in questionable situations, in effort to keep the content appropriate for teens. This book contains no sex, written or implied, and no explicit language. Recommended for ages 14 and up.

Excerpt:

He smiled back at me. “Then you approve?” he asked, waving his hand over his body. “I even wore school colors,

just for you.”

My eyebrows bunched together. “You wore a white polo,” I said flatly.

He defended himself. “And the school colors are red and white, are they not?”

“Fine. You win,” I conceded, shaking my head. Why was he so difficult? And cute?

Tips On Buying Your Perfect Car

audi

Sponsored post

I remember buying my first car. I was unsure of a lot of things, and though it was adequate, it really wasn’t the perfect car for me. Since that time,  I’ve  learned a lot which made negotiating for and buying my next car, which was perfect for me, so much easier.

Here are Some Tips I’ve Learned:

Do Your Research:

Like any important investment, don’t rush into it. There are so many wonderful resources out there to help you make an informed decision. I love Cars.com They have a very helpful Videos and Reviews section with clear and honest information. You can also find the skinny on local dealerships and what your current car is worth.

Online research helps put you in control. In the past, consumers relied heavily on the visit to the dealer to learn more about a car. Today, with online sources and mobile phones putting so much information at our fingertips, you can feel educated and confident before you ever set foot in a dealership.

Knowledge is power.

Take a Test Drive:

Before you buy any car, make sure to take it on a test drive, long enough to really get a feel for it. Make sure you are comfortable. Try all the controls, adjust the seats. If you have children, bring them along on the test drive. If you are buying a used car, get it checked over by a trusted mechanic. You don’t want to be stuck with someone’s hidden problems.

pexels-photo-173286

Don’t Make An Impulse Decision

Although it is tempting to buy immediately, take time to research the make, model and style of the vehicle, review insurance rates and financing and, if possible, get a second opinion. You may want all the add-ons, but, some, like a portable GPS unit or stereo system, can be purchased much cheaper online and at a better quality than a built-in one.

gps

Know When To Shop for a New Car

Weekdays are better than busy weekends. The end of the month is better than mid-month as salesmen may be trying to squeeze in a few more sales for monthly totals. The end of December is a good time as people are focusing on Christmas and the dealerships aren’t very busy, motivating them to give you a good price to help with year end sales records. Another good time to buy is July-October when dealerships are clearing space for the new models.

Don’t be in a hurry. Don’t rush into it. Ultimately, the best time to buy a new car is before you need one.

pexels-photo-134392
